McAfee commissioned climate-change consultants ICF and spam expert Richi Jennings to calculate the environmental impact of spam. They calculated the energy use associated with each stage in the lifecycle of spam, including the energy used to transmit, process, and filter spam.  The study looks at spam across 11 countries.

In spite of economic pressures, environmental sustainability continues to be on the radar of today’s corporate marketers and communicators.  A survey by the AMA and Fleishman-Hillard, Inc. reveals that when it comes to investing in sustainable business behaviors and programs, more than half (58%) of corporate marketers and communicators believe their organizations will increase their involvement in environmental sustainability initiatives during the next 2-3 years.
